‘Europium’ was the name of our answer to Eurolab’s open call to submitting a proposal for what a re-branded EU would look like. EU’s image is more than ever being looked at in a critical light. With this project we wanted to propose a rebranding that could help EU appear more transparent and appeal to a younger audience. One of our main references for this project was ‘Metahaven’, as they work with graphic design that often has a more political message/ context.

We
were also inspired by the element ‘Europium’, which is an element for a special kind of silver in the periodic table and is named after the European continent. As you can see in our redesigned EU logo, we took the elements initials and added the number of current members of the EU instead as if it was the element’s mass number.

Bellow is our own design for new European flags that could work as garments, to be used as merchandise and perhaps aid in creating a sense of unity/community within EU supporters.
