Europium was the name of a project proposal for the rebranding of the EU. The rebranding had the scope of centring transparency as a value whilst appealing to younger audiences. One of the main references for this project was Metahaven, as they work within a graphic design context that often has a political message.

The team and I were inspired by the element, Europium, which is a type of silver that can be found in the periodic table. It also received its name after the European continent. As you can see in the redesigned logo, the current number of members within the EU in 2018 replaced the element’s mass number.
